Application possibilities

The NOVO MINI IP Encoder is primarily used as an extension to existing installations, but can be very well used by itself for any analog to IP encoding in new system integrations.

Encoding of a single analog video in a network video system: A digital surveillance system with the NOVO Series IP Encoder can display network video on a public display TV or other analog monitors, i.e. in a retail shop.

Connecting two analog systems over a LAN/WAN: Organizations that operate in multiple buildings can reduce the cost for security by integrating a remote analog system with another analog system at the main location.

Surveillance systems: Most city centers, which have a good networking infrastructure, can easily expand the existing analog system by cost-effectively connecting devices through a wide area network with the use of the NOVO Series IP Encoders and IP Decoders. Existing analog cameras with features such as day/night, PTZ functionality can still be utilized in such a system.

Our NOVO Series IP Encoder supports both constant bit rate and variable bit rate. Variable bit rate is the default setting and is recommended as it gives control over image quality. This also makes it difficult to predict what the bandwidth consumption will be. Apart from the image resolution and compression, the bandwidth also depends on the H.264 settings, the image complexity, the amount of motion in the monitored scene, but uses much less bandwidth than our competitors.

When bandwidth needs to be controlled, constant bit rate can be used. The user can then give priority to either the frame rate or the image quality when there is increased motion. Another way to control and reduce bandwidth consumption is to fix the frame rate.

H.264 implementation enables a wide range of flexible settings for adapting to different application requirements. The system can be optimized for quality, bandwidth, and network infrastructure.

Quick Q & A


• Q I cannot connect to my Novo Mini?
• A While it is highly irregular for you not to be able to connect, for the initial setup connect directly to the NOVO Mini through a patch cable, the NOVO Mini’s IP address is set to a default of 192.0.0.64 or 192.168.0.8. Disable any firewalls and enable the Active X settings in your IE Security settings. This should solve the issue.
  
  Now connect through IE, install the Active X, log in with user name “ admin “ and password “ 12345 “, go to the “ Config “ button at the top right, Set the NOVO Mini’s IP address to whatever you need it, make sure you include the Gateway, and that your mask IP is 255.255.255.0. You may change the Device ID the IP address, the HTTP Port (used for connecting from the WAN), the PORT 8000 is used for the Concert NVR Client Software you may change this but when you configure the Client software make sure you make the change there as well. Save the settings, and REBOOT for settings to take effect.
  
  If you are still unable to connect, please try a cross connect cable, and repeat the process above. Further more if you are still unable to connect use the Serial cable supplied with your NOVO Mini and HyperTerminal to the NOVO following instructions listed in Chapter 3 Pg.9 of the users manual. From there you should be able to connect to it through IE as listed above.
