One of our latest cameras, the NITOR is the First Ruggedized Armored, Thermal / Optical Hammerhead PTZ camera available with 18x, 26x, 36x optical zoom options. It is highly effective at detecting persons at great distances in pitch black conditions.

WECU Surveillance.com offers an exclusive combination thermal / optical camera solution. The NITOR Thermal camera enables passive infrared monitoring day and night out to 1000+ meter ranges. The thermal imager displays in white hot, black hot or the color spectrum with high contrast to easily identify targets with in the field of view. The Sony optical camera provides 18x, 26x or 36x optical and 12x digital zoom for long range day and night operations. The optical camera provides excellent low light capabilities only needing limited light for night operations.

The NITOR's rugged design will allow you to operate this unit in the worst of atmospheres, with its super "SHOCK-ability" and versatility, just connect it to your vehicles power supply, (Only 24V power available), connect a joystick controller and view it on a monitor (many available to fit the most demanding requirements). A perfect professional mobile application for observation and (LAV) Light Armored Vehicle for scouting missions.

  • Additional information
  • The NITOR can be offered with RS-422 which can return the azimuth and elevation. The NITOR is accurate to 0.1 degree, additionally we have other positioners that have digital encoders for azimuth and elevation that have 0.05 degree accuracy.
  • The optical camera is a day / night camera with a Min Illumination of 0.01 LUX, ambient light will still need to be present for images
  • The Johnson Criteria assumes that the critical dimension for a human being is 0.75 meters. To get DRI, you need 1.5 pixels, 6 pixels and 12 pixels across 0.17 meters in the object plane. That means:
    • Detection = 1.5 pixels / 0.75m = 2 pixels per meter
    • Recognition = 6 pixels / 0.75m = 8 pixels per meter
    • Identification = 12 pixels / 0.75m = 16 pixels per meter
  • Assuming that a man 1.83m by 0.5m, the following would apply:
    • Detection = 3. pixels by 1 pixel, you can see something there.
    • Recognition = 14.4 pixels by 4 pixels, you can see a person is there
    • Identification = 28.8 pixels by 8 pixels, you can see the person look like a soldier
  • The Johnson Criteria assumes that the critical dimension for a vehicle is 2.3 meters. To get DRI, you need 1.5 pixels, 6 pixels and 12 pixels across 2.3 meters in the object plane. That means:
    • Detection = 1.5 pixels / 2.3m = .7 pixels per meter
    • Recognition = 6 pixels / 2.3m = 2.6 pixels per meter
    • Identification = 12 pixels / 2.3m = 5.2 pixels per meter
  • Assuming that a vehicle is 4m by 1.5m, the following would apply:
    • Detection = 2.8. pixels by 1 pixel, you can see something there.
    • Recognition = 13 pixels by 5 pixels, you can see a vehicle is there
    • Identification = 26 pixels by 10 pixels, you can see the vehicle may be a Humvee
  • Detection/Recognition/Identification Ranges with a 100mm Thermal camera. For example:
  • Vehicles:
    • Detection: .... 4200 meters
    • Recognition: .... 1600 meters
    • Identification: .... 800 meters
    People:
    • Detection:..... 1600 meters
    • Recognition:.....500 meters
    • Identification:......250 meters
